Los Angeles Ford Fiesta Fashion Week Hits Fresno!

Los Angeles based “Ford Fiesta Fashion Week” will make a stop at Fresno’s Fashion Style Lounge on September 30, 2010 at 6:00pm at Woodward Park Amphitheater. The “Ford Fiesta Fashion Week” hosted by Hollywood Fashion Celebrities, Parris Harris and Sebastian St. George, have achieved great success by stylishly promoting the 2011 Ford Fiesta in its fashion shows all over Southern California and Las Vegas. Ford Motor Company branded the social marketing campaign as “The Fiesta Movement” with Parris Harris and Sebastian St. George being two of 40 Fiesta Agents in the Nation. http://www.fiestamovement2.com/ You can view the new 2011 Ford Fiesta sponsored by Lithia Ford at Fashion Style Lounge.

The fashion runway show will include an extraordinary exhibit of hair and fashion. Ajmal Layla is an expression of silent beauty and mid-eastern fashion presented by hair designer, Isaac Huerta and theatrical makeup artist, Maha Ahmed.

Activation Speciation is a spectacle of evolutionary fashion as seen in the eyes of its creator, Lindsey Zielger. Lindsey coordinates many fashion shows in Fresno, San Francisco, and Orange County and was offered the opportunity to be FSL’s Fashion Show Creative Director.

Parris Harris will reveal his unique display of fashion reinvention with Punk Mail. Wires, tape, stickers , foam animals, chains, the kitchen sink (JK) and other treasuries that may assemble a shirt or dress; Punk Mail recycles, recreates, and redirects a garments path in the eyes of Parris Harris. The crowed will definitely be entertained and surprised by this runway expose.

Fashion Style Lounge or FSL is not like other fashion shows in Fresno because every show is different. One constant element; it brings together local and LA based indie fashion and accessory designers along with beauty experts and products. Guests can shop, eat, drink, take a picture, and meet new people who all have the same thing in common….fashion. One guest described FSL, “I felt like we were characters straight out of a scene from “Sex and the City.” Where else can you see a 100 foot runway?

Fashion Style Lounge takes place on September 30, 2010 at 6pm. This is a 21+ event benefiting local non-profit, A Spoonful of Sugar. Tickets available at PC Solutions, www.fashionstylelounge.com or call Falina Marihart at 559-487-1091 for more details. Motorcycle Doo-Rag Goes Custom!!

So I have been getting requests to add logos, rhinestones, feathers, etc. to my hats and I think it's great. I love the fact you can customized this hat to your own style. I have a few more orders to work on but as soon as I have them done, I will post pics. Personally, I like the classic black look when I wear my bad ass hat!

An Upscale Doo-Rag?

My motorcycle-inspired Bad Ass hat is like, or better yet, it is an Upscale Doo-Rag. (That's weird to hear "upscale" and "doo-rag" in the same sentence.) My recent meeting with Renegade Classics owner, Debbie Mortimer, confirmed my thoughts on marketing this hat to women riders.
Renegade Classics is a motorcycle retailer sporting everything you need and want from brands like Harley-Davidson, Renegade Classics logo gear, and you name it, Private Plane Originals.
After wearing a helmet, women don't want to sport helmet hair so the best thing to do is top it off with a hat. Now with my original design, the Bad Ass hat, women riders can simply wear the hat with the helmet over it like a traditional doo-rag. I hate to think of my hat as a "rag" but for women riders everywhere, it's one cool, fashionable rag! Featured Designer at FSL - By Alana Little - I love crafts. People ask me what is my favorite thing to make or buy and even now I can't come up with an answer! I started Make Pie Not War as something fun for people to enjoy. I love the smile people get when they see something that I've made. I know that crafts won't solve the world’s problems, but we can take people away from them for awhile! My passion is the unique.... I always want to increase my knowledge base of the arts. To Rhinestone or Not to Rhinestone?

The reason I am posting this question is because a boutique in Clovis has applied rhinestone appliques to our hats. At first I had mixed feelings because my hat styles are not typical, but I saw a few samples and I kinda like them.

I personally like the classic look, no additional embellishments, however, when I was designing the styles, I thought these hats would make a perfect canvas if anyone wanted to add a personal touch. I really don't mind because whats important to me is what the customer wants and if she feels good wearing it, then go for it!!!

There are a lot of rhinestone designs to choose from like crosses, Fleur De Li's, peace signs, and so on. I snapped this pic so you can see but if you visit Fashion Unlimited in Clovis, you can see more rhinestone designs. Even if rhinestones are the trend right now, the hat will always be classic!

The Birth of Fashion Style Lounge

I can't take all the credit for the success of Fashion Style Lounge; however I will take credit for the birth of it. It all started when I had the opportunity to preview my hat line in Beverly Hills. The event was Hollywood Style Lounge and you guessed it....celebrities, fashion writers, stylists, models in lingerie, and the best part to me "Spinderella" (remember Spinderella - the mix master from the 80's female rap group Salt n Pepa.) After a day of meeting and greeting and sore feet, I came back home and thought to myself; we definitely need an event like this in Fresno!

Launching your own fashion line is not easy….NOT EASY!!! Talk to any emerging designer who has a great idea for a line but needs help with other areas like money, business, marketing, web design, and so on. This is the case with many designers starting out because designers are very passionate but need help in other areas. I have experienced this first hand.

My idea for FSL was to help other indie designers by networking together and giving them a venue to showcase and sell their product. I have hosted four FSL events and they all took place in a 2200 sq. ft. stylish office space that was transformed into a fashion hot spot after 6pm. You have to see it to believe it. It’s a fashion show without runways. It’s all about passionate designers and the guests who love their designs. Pair that with a glass of champagne, a DJ, a photographer, and beautiful people and that’s Fashion Style Lounge.

The historical Tower District is an alternative to old strip malls and multi-use super centers that are all so common in Fresno. It’s the closest neighborhood scene the resembles a San Francisco feel. You will find a bit of theater, the best Italian sandwiches, Chinese food and Thai food, nightclubs, gay bars, tea shops, smoke shops, taqueria, tattoo shops, boutiques, salons, and a couple of old school restaurants. It’s truly the city’s gem and I love it!!!

The FSL designer community has enable designers to meet each other and share experiences. Some designers are truly break out designers with a new line to test the market. Other designers have establish lines and distribution channels like www.etsy.com, websites, boutiques, and department stores. All the designers are able to share stories about which trade shows and events to attend or which suppliers to check out, etc. It’s not about competition, but collaboration.

This year, I have some great ideas I am going to introduce to take FSL to the next level. In addition, I am exploring opportunities to host Fashion Style Lounge in other cities with the goal to help other up and coming independent fashion and accessory designers. I have also been approached about featuring Fashion Style Lounge Designers at California Market Center. Yep, exciting stuff happening this year. I’ll keep you posted!
